How To Use
How To Use Ruby's Red Wash
The 'Cliff Notes' version.....
1) You get a stain. Darn.
2) Throw the stained garment in the laundry with all the other clothes.
3) Wait for laundry day.
4) When doing laundry, take the stained garment out and put it in a plugged sink
or bowl.
5) Pour enough Ruby's Red Wash over the stain so that it's saturated.
(Usually about a capful).
6) Either watch the stain disappear, work it in with a little brush to
make it disappear really fast, or just leave the dirty garment in the
sink to soak. (Go get a cocktail and put your feet up, if you want.)
7) When the stain is gone, rinse under cool water and throw in the wash,
as usual.
8) Voila, you are done!
And for all you attention-to-detail types,
here's the blow by blow description...
1) First, just rinse the stain with cool water. Any stain, but especially blood, is easier to remove if you get to it right away. So, if at all possible, get to the stain as soon as you notice it and rinse the blood as best you can from the garment with COOL water. Warm or hot water helps to set blood, so make sure you use cool water. And, your blood stains will rinse out more easily if you hold only the stained portion under running water (rather than just immersing the whole garment in a bath of water). Keep the cool waters flowing!
2) Now, in ordinary life, we are nowhere near able to rip off our clothes and change underwear and get to a sink to wash them out. And who even feels like doing that? More often than not, we are dealing with an old, set-in blood stain, right? Fear not, Ruby's works on old stains, too. If you can, rinse out as much of the old stain as you can with COOL water, then just soak the stain in the solution.
***Ruby's Red Wash is almost fool-proof, but it’s generally helpful to know that the older the stain and the tighter the weave of the fabric, the more concentrated the solution should be and the longer the soak.
3) After rinsing, use a small basin or plug up the bathroom sink. You can fill the sink or bowl with just a bit of water, if you want just enough to cover the stained area of the garment or material. You don’t need to immerse the entire piece in the water (or the solution) but if you are too tired to deal with it, you can submerge a whole pair of panties (or several together).
4) Next, for an “average-sized” stain, hold the stained portion right over the water and pour about a capful of Ruby's on the stain to fully saturate. You can work Ruby's into the blood stain (or not) a little before putting it into the water. Using a small soft bristled brush, loosen the fibers containing the stain. The goal is to work the solution into and under the fibers, so that the stain dissolves faster and more completely. If the stain is faint already after rinsing with cool water, sometimes you can work it out in a matter of seconds- right before your eyes! If you don’t have time, though, just dunk the stained portion into the mixture (or the entire pair of underwear), let it go to work, and check on it later. In just a few minutes, you can pull the garment out and see how much of the stain is gone. If it’s still there, put the garment back in the solution and let soak. Most stains will dissolve in about 30 minutes or less. You can even forget about your garment for hours or days and come back and rinse it out.
*** One time Ruby totally forgot and left a pair of underwear in a bucket with Ruby's Red Wash for a week! She thought the undies would have been destroyed. However, she rinsed them out and they were fine- stain completely gone, too, of course.
5) When the stain has vanished, wash garment as usual. Make time to celebrate your successful red wash….Life just got a little easier!
